Developing Cooperation and Subcontracting Mechanisms Between Large Clusters and Small Knitwear Enterprises: The Case of Andijan Region

The paper analyses forms of cooperation and subcontracting between large clusters and small sewing enterprises in the knitwear sector of Andijan region. It shows that the share of semi-finished goods in exports (22.8%) provides a real basis for local fabric–sewing cooperation. A typology of cooperation models and measures to develop the mechanism, taking the "subcontracting trap" into account, are proposed.
