The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on English Language Teaching and Learning

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become one of the most influential innovations in modern education, particularly in the field of English language teaching and learning. The integration of AI-powered tools such as chatbots, grammar correction software, speech recognition systems, and adaptive learning platforms has significantly transformed traditional teaching methods. This article examines the role of AI in improving learners’ language proficiency, motivation, and self-regulated learning skills. Drawing upon recent studies and systematic reviews, the paper explores the effectiveness, benefits, and challenges of AI applications in English language education. The findings indicate that AI contributes positively to learners’ academic achievement, personalized learning experiences, and classroom engagement. However, issues such as overdependence on technology, lack of teacher training, and ethical concerns remain important considerations. Overall, AI has the potential to shape the future of English language education by creating more interactive, flexible, and learner-centered environments.
