Abstract

This article explores the development of motivation and volitional qualities in athletes practicing Kurash. Kurash is a sport that requires not only physical strength but also strong psychological preparation. An athlete’s internal motivation and volitional traits-such as determination, patience, and resilience-are key factors for success in competition. The study employs an experimental method using psychological training, motivational discussions, autogenic training, and visualization exercises. The effectiveness of these methods is assessed by comparing results between experimental and control groups. The article also provides methodological recommendations for coaches, highlights key considerations when selecting athletes, and suggests ways to improve the mental and emotional readiness of Kurash practitioners. Findings indicate that targeted development of motivation and volitional traits significantly enhances overall athlete preparedness.
