This article examines the application of hermeneutics - the doctrine of the interpretation of text and meaning - to the educational process, its historical roots, evolutionary stages and its place in modern pedagogical practice from a philosophical and pedagogical point of view. The hermeneutic concepts of great thinkers are analyzed in harmony with the philosophy of education, and the influence of such basic concepts as understanding, interpretation and dialogue on modern educational models is shown. The article shows that the approach to the educational process is aimed at forming a complex of knowledge, skills and competencies. The manifestation of the hermeneutic approach in the pedagogical consciousness as a generalized project of activity in a certain direction, and the practical possibilities of hermeneutic pedagogy in the conditions of modernization of the education system of Uzbekistan are also discussed.
