Abstract

This article examines the role of PISA international assessment studies in the education system of Uzbekistan and ways to develop studentsʼ functional literacy using their results. The article analyzes the concept of functional literacy, the methodology of assessing functional literacy in PISA studies, reforms in this field in Uzbekistan, and ways to address existing shortcomings based on international experience. This study developed proposals aimed at Uzbekistanʼs participation in PISA assessments, the integration of their results into the national education system, the enhancement of teachersʼ professional capacity, and the improvement of educational content. The article also discusses strategies for developing components of functional literacy - reading, mathematical, and scientific literacy, as well as methods for teaching them.
